Tim Gerard Reynolds was trained at the Samuel Beckett Centre, Trinity College Dublin, and at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, Waterford CT. At TCD he studied with many fine teachers, and was tutored mainly by the late Michael Joyce of The Royal National Theatre Studio. Tim also studied for a year in France with Wlaydslaw Znorko, Christian Schiaretti, and playwright and drama theorist Jean-Pierre Sarrazac. Stage work has taken him from The Abbey Theatre Dublin, to the London Fringe, the Official Avigon Theatre Festival, Region US Theater, and on and off Broadway. He was worked with, or collaborated with many established artists of the stage and screen, including Robert Sean Leonard, Milo O’Shea, Jim True-Frost, Brían F. O’Byrne, T. Ryder Smith, Aidan Gillan, Jarlath Conroy, Rhys Evans, and directors such as Anne Kauffman, Joe Dowling, George C. Heslin, Alan Gilsenan, Jack Going, and John Crowley.
Tim has also studied for a BFA in Painting & Printmaking at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, studying with Marylin Minter, and Betty Tompkins (link NSFW). To help pay for day-to-day expenses, he got a job writing copy at a company called Recorded Books, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Today, Tim is a full-time audiobook narrator with many Earphone Awards, Audie Nominations, and SOVAS Voice Arts Award Nominations under his belt. He was named among the best narrators of the year by Audiofile Magazine for 2014, 2015, and 2016. In 2015, Tim was the first audiobook narrator to do a Reddit AMA. In 2016, the influential Reddit forum r/fantasy gave him a “Stabby” Award (an actual, engraved dagger!) for “Best Related Content.” (He has this proudly mounted in his personal recording studio).
Tim has a close association with Italy, and is a proficient Italian speaker. His hobbies include extended hikes through the great wildernesses of the US, and rock-wall climbing (read falling). Tim is also known by his Dharma Name, KanSho. He is a senior student of Roshi Pat Enkyo O’Hara at Dotokuji, The Village Zendo, a traditional Soto Zen Temple in New York City. Although Tim grew up in Ireland, and lived briefly in England, France, and Italy, New York has been home for most of his adult life.
